Picture: AAP/Image Steve PohlnerCollectively homeowners in Greater Brisbane saw $1.821billion gross profit in the June quarter and $2.036b in the March quarter. It’s a stunning tale, repeated across the region with Logan homeowners seeing median profit between $93,250 and $97,250 over the two quarters; Ipswich was at $65,000 to $68,000; Redland $109,350 to $115,000 and Moreton $90,000 to $90,250.The coastal zones were strong too with Gold Coast sellers landing median profit between $125,000 and $127,500 while on the Sunshine Coast they were looking at between $131,000 and $142,750.Even on the fringes of the southeast the returns were good with Lockyer Valley drawing $94,500 to $120,000, Somerset $55,000 to $78,000 and Toowoomba $71,000 to $73,625.The strongest result though came out of Scenic Rim where the highest median profit of all the council regions emerged between $212,500 and $239,000.According CoreLogic research head Tim Lawless, the longer the homes were held, the higher the profits.82 The Avenue, Sunnybank Hills.“The Scenic Rim showed a very long average hold period, with the typical vendor having owned their home for 15.5 years before selling. Such a long average hold period has pushed the typical gross profit higher.”The results were calculated by looking at what the home was previously purchased for and calculating what the gross profit or loss was when it sold during the first half of the year.Brisbane homeowners Tania and Rubinder Singh were among those hoping for a solid profit, with their luxury house at 82 The Avenue, Sunnybank Hills, set to be auctioned off at 11.30am today (Sunday).“There’s been big interest in the property,” Mr Singh said of the property which they bought four years ago.“The plan was to renovate it and then we got permissions done, it took six to eight months to plan and took more than a year to finish it. We did a lot. It was a six bedroom house before, then we extended it and now it’s five bedroom,” he smiled. With the extra space, they added a bespoke cinema, turned the home into one with three living spaces, a resort-style pool and poolhouse, and added every modcon a family could dream of.”It’s designed for growing families. You don’t have to go anywhere for the holidays. You don’t even have to go to the cinemas as ours is so good.”QLD biggest sales (and what their owners made): January to June 2018103-105 Hedges Avenue Mermaid Beach, Qld 4218$11,600,000 Sold on 15 Jun 2018Gross Profit: $9mhttps://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-qld-mermaid+beach-128155630 46 Seaview Terrace Sunshine Beach.46 Seaview Terrace Sunshine Beach, Qld 4567$15,200,000 Sold on 29 Mar 2018Gross Profit: $5.7m21-23 Webb Road Sunshine Beach, Qld 4567$18,000,000 Sold on 16 Mar 2018Gross Profit: $11m3250/23 Ferny Avenue Surfers Paradise, Qld 4217$9,500,000 Sold on 12 Mar 2018Gross profit: $8.3m117 Mooloolah Drive Minyama, Qld 4575$6,100,000 Sold on 02 Mar 2018Gross profit: Undisclosed5/81 Moray Street New Farm, Qld 4005$6,500,000 Sold on 01 Mar 2018Gross profit: $1.1m2/23 Hastings Street Noosa Heads, Qld 4567$6,900,000 Sold on 26 Feb 2018Gross profit: $0More from newsParks and wildlife the new lust-haves post coronavirus16 hours agoNoosa’s best beachfront penthouse is about to hit the market16 hours ago3/56 David Low Way Sunrise Beach, Qld 4567$6,125,000 Sold on 17 Feb 2018Gross Profit: $525,000last_img read more
