Michael Dolan, 168-10 center_img OTTAWA, Kan. – The Drake University track and field teams resumed their outdoor season on Saturday, April, 9, with the bulk of the team competing at the Ottawa Braves Invitational.The Bulldogs took top honors in 12 events at the one-day meet and recorded a total of 43 top-5 finishes in the small field.”With the off weekend last week, this meet was just what we needed to get back into competition mode,” said Drake head coach Natasha Kaiser-Brown. “We faced some windy conditions, but the team looks to be in great shape and we’re looking forward to the Jim Duncan Invitational next weekend.”Michael Dolan (Lincolnshire, Ill.) uncorked a personal best of nearly eight feet in the hammer throw to finish second with a throw of 168-10. The Bulldogs Ryan Cook (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Johnathan Osifuye (Woodbury, Minn.) were also second in the high jump and triple jump, respectively.Pierce Vincent (Fayetteville, Ga.) continued his strong season by winning the 100 meters in 10.86 and ran the anchor legs of the first-place 4×100-meter relay and third-place 4×400-meter relay.For the women’s team, Bailee Cofer (Overland Park, Kan.) turned in a personal best of 4:48.43 to win the 1,500 meters.In the sprints, Rai Ahmed-Green (Irvine, Calif.) won the 200 meters in 25.35 and took second in the 100 meters at 12.69. Later she ran the second leg of the team’s 4×100-meter relay that also took top honors.Jaclyn Aremka (Plainfield, Ill.) cleared a season-best 5-6 to win the high jump while Taryn Rolle (Nassau, The Bahamas) and Kayla Bell (Bolingbrook, Ill.) remained atop the standings in the triple jump in first and second, respectively.The Bulldogs return to Drake Stadium next weekend to host the annual Jim Duncan Invitational April 15-16.last_img read more
