RTI Act applicable to Secretariat of Governor: Goa CIC

first_imgThe Goa State Chief Information Commissioner(CIC) Prashant Tendolkar on Monday allowed a complaint filed by advocate Aires Rodrigues over the non-compliance of the Right to Information (RTI) Act by the Secretariat of the Governor at Goa Raj Bhavan. In his order disposing of the complaint, the Goa CIC has granted the complainant’s plea by confirming the findings of the Goa State Information Commission(GSIC)  in appeal No.10/2008 and complaint No.613/SCIC/2010.(PIO) and directed the Secretariat of Governor at Raj Bhavan Goa to appoint a Public Information Officer(PIO) and also make the mandatory disclosures under Section 4 (1) of the RTI as required in compliance of the law.In the complaint filed under section 18 (1) (a) of the RTI Act, activist lawyer Rodrigues had pleaded that the Goa Raj Bhavan despite being a “Public Authority’ in terms of section 2 (h) of the RTI Act had not appointed a PIO nor made the mandatory disclosures required under section 4 (1) of the RTI Act.last_img
